Studio M is happy to share that we have received CC approval for early works on tourist accommodation in the Hunter, which was granted after a long and arduous journey.
Set within the Hunter Valley vineyard district, this project involved the creation of boutique guest accommodation on a 28.7-hectare rural property in Lovedale.
Studio M Architecture designed the relocation and integration of eight existing accommodation blocks, comprising 32 individual cabin-style guest rooms. The cabins are connected by a new timber deck and complemented by a compact guest kitchen and store, landscaped surrounds, parking and upgraded site access.
Each cabin provides private, self-contained accommodation with a sleeping area, wardrobe, desk and ensuite bathroom.
The site planning responds carefully to the property's rural character, existing vineyard plantings and natural site conditions. Established vines along Wills Hill Road are retained, while the accommodation is positioned within the broader landscape to maintain the open character of the property.
Site levels, access roads and landscaped areas were also considered as part of the overall design, with the accommodation established above the nominated flood level.
The project provides a simple and considered approach to visitor accommodation, creating an intimate rural stay experience that complements the vineyard landscape and character of Lovedale.
